Add custom menu items to your Slide Out UX
Take your slide-out menu to the next level by adding up to ten (10) custom menu items that link directly to URLs you want your members to have easy access to like; calendars, eCommerce, or internal resources. Your slide-out menu is easily customized directly from your Control Center.
Adding Menu Items in Control Center 2.0
Control Center 2.0 Instructions:
- Login to your community using your Community Leader account. Your community leader account is the account you use to Feature posts from within your community.
- Open the slide-out menu in your community and click the Control Center menu link. This will open Control Center 2.0.
- Click the tab button in the top right of your screen, this will open up the slide-out menu of your Control Center. In the slide-out menu, click Community Settings to expand the menu and then click Menu Items.
- Click the New Menu Link button
- Input your Menu Link Name to enter the text displayed in your slide-out menu
- Select your Menu Link Target type from the drop-down menu:
External - opens link in a separate browser window
Internal - opens link within a browser window within your app
User - link directly to a user's profile by adding the user's member profile
Post - link directly to a post within your community by adding the post's ID
Group - link directly to a Group by adding the group via the search box
- Click Save Changes after you are done creating your menu link
- If you would like to re-order Menu items, hover your mouse cursor on the menu-item in the menu list and drag & drop the item to the desired order.
Adding Menu Items in Control Center 1.0
To add a slide-out menu button, follow the steps below:
1. Log into your Control Center for your network and click on 'View Community Details'

2. Scroll down a bit until you see "Slide Out Menu Box and then click 'Add menu item'

3. Select the menu item's Target Type, choosing between External, Internal, User, Post, or Group.
External - opens link in a separate browser window
Internal - opens link within a browser window within your app
User - link directly to a user's profile by adding the user's User ID
Post - link directly to a post within your community by adding the post's ID
Group - link directly to a Group by adding the group's ID.
Then you enter what you want the button to be titled and click 'Create Menu item' and you're done.
You can change the order of your custom buttons by dragging the arrow button, edit titles and links of your existing custom menu link buttons, and delete them from the Slide Out Menu Box. Here is an example of what it looks like with custom buttons added.

How to Edit Menu Item capitalization & add Custom Translations
Each menu item automatically receives a Translation value that can be customized and updated in Control Center. If you need to update the capitalization of letters or add a custom language translation for your menu item, visit the Translations section of the Control Center.
In Translations will find menu item translations automatically created for each slide-out menu item you've added. Click Edit to edit the translation text for the particular language translation that you would like to update.
